Sara Mardini was hailed as a hero in 2015, when she saved several people’s lives during the dangerous boat crossing from Turkey to Greece. She is a trained swimmer from Syria, who now works as a humanitarian volunteer in Greece. And she’s currently facing trial there on people smuggling charges, related to her work as a humanitarian volunteer on the island of Lesbos. Mardini tells host Marco Werman that she denies the charges and she explains her work.
