Amid the military coup in Sudan last month, the internet and phone systems were shut off across the country. In response, some mosques in Sudan turned to the minarets to denounce the coup. Civilian leaders have since been restored to the country. But some are calling for mosques to continue to play an active role in political affairs. The World’s Halima Gikandi visited one mosque in Sudan to listen to the Friday sermon and speak with some of the faithful there.
