In France, hip-hop is second only to the US in terms of popularity and influence. As the genre turns 50, we’re spending the summer looking at places and cultures where the music has thrived. Samuel Lamontagne is a historian and co-leader of UCLA’s Hip Hop Initiative at UCLA and speaks with host Marco Werman about how French artists have helped revolutionize the genre.
