France’s lovers bill

On Friday, a member of parliament in France, Mireille Clapot, proposed to pass a “lover’s amendment” to the country’s coronavirus policies. Clapot argued that lovers weren’t considered in the list of permitted reasons for long-distance journeys. The current regulations “require anyone leaving their home département and traveling more than 100 km to prove that they have ‘compelling professional or family reasons.'” Clapot says non-married, unionized couples should be included in this, but the health minister disagreed.
