Sept. 1 marks the first day of school across Ukraine. The day is akin to a national holiday — a celebration of students and teachers. This year though, schools across the country are trying to figure out how to manage the academic year while the country remains at war. In Lviv, only schools with large enough bomb shelters for all their students will open up for in person classes. Administrators are working on accommodating IDPs and also making sure they have social workers on staff to help kids going through trauma. The World’s Daniel Ofman reports from Lviv Ukraine.
