First anniversary of military raids on Sudanese protest camps

The World

One year ago today, Sudanese security forces raided protest camps that had been pushing for civilian rule of the country. Estimates vary but dozens — if not more than 100 people — were killed, and dozens more were raped. A year later, many worry that those responsible for these atrocities have not been held accountable. Host Marco Werman speaks with activist Sulima Ishaq Sharif about what has and hasn’t changed and how she is honoring this day. Sharif is a psychologist and trauma specialist in Khartoum who has been working with assault victims
