On Thursday, Finland’s president and prime minister announced their support for joining NATO. It’s a reversal of a decadeslong stance of neutrality for the Nordic country in relation to Europe’s NATO-Russia divide. Moscow was not happy about this announcement and Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it would take “retaliatory steps” in response.
