Environmentalists criticize Bolsonaro’s climate plan

This week, Brazil, the world’s sixth-largest greenhouse gas emitter, said it would stop emitting new greenhouse gasses by 2060. But it told the UN that it would not strengthen its goal for cutting carbon emissions in the near-term, by 2030. Experts and activists are critical of the Bolsonaro government’s plans, saying that they lack ambition and are a shameful response to the climate crisis.
