Over the summer, a roaming herd of elephants in China captured the world’s attention. While no one knows exactly why the elephants roamed off their usual path and away from their home, some experts have suggested that urbanization of previous wildlife areas may be part of the problem. An elephant “canteen” — really just an area with food put out for elephants — is being built in Yunnan, as a way to help solve the issue. The World’s Rebecca Kanthor reports from Shanghai.
