Despite lull in fighting, ethnic militias continue to train in Ethiopia’s Amhara region

It might not be making international news headlines, but the war in northern Ethiopia is not over. For more than a year, Ethiopian government troops have been fighting the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, or TPLF. The conflict began in the Tigray region and spread to neighboring areas. The World’s Halima Gikandi recently traveled to the Amhara region, where the fighting has mostly stopped, but civilians are still arming themselves.
