Cows pose a problem for Ireland’s climate goals

Digestion and waste from cows, in other words belching and farting, is responsible for a worrying amount of greenhouse gas emissions every year, possibly up to 15% of global emissions. Ireland with its strong dairy farming industry, is facing up to the fact that having so many cows may be detrimental to the country’s climate goals. The Irish government is now considering a radical solution as our Europe correspondent Orla Barry reports.
