The Dubai Air Show’s strong sales support the airlines’ optimistic outlook for future air travel. But there’s been little acknowledgement that the industry needs to work to reduce its carbon footprint, currently 3.5% of the world’s carbon emissions. The World’s host Carol Hills speaks with Dan Rutherford of the International Council on Clean Transportation about how the airline industry calculates its contribution to climate change, and how manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus plan to meet the challenge of reducing emissions.
