Chile announces new ‘flowering desert’ national park

The driest nonpolar place on earth, the Atacama Desert, is currently covered with carpets of colorful blossoms. This natural spectacle only happens once or twice every 10 years, and it has prompted the Chilean government to name this region as a national park earlier this month. Here, researchers are finding clues to deal with climate change and extremely dry conditions. The World’s Tibisay Zea reports from the Atacama Desert.
