A series of reports this week examines the social conventions of castes and how they shape the lives of millions of people living in caste-based societies. The series, “Caste in America,” is co-produced by WGBH in Boston and the Pulitzer Center, and begins Tuesday with one man’s return to his native India, where he was born an “Untouchable.”
