As part of its massive global infrastructure project, Belt and Road, China is financing dozens of new coal plants in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. For countries that desperately need more electricity, that’s a big win. But it’s also bad for climate change. Joe Biden says he will get China to stop building more coal plants. But how realistic is that pledge? The World’s Asia correspondents Rebecca Kanthor and Patrick Winn teamed up to find out.
