Brazil has the largest Catholic population in the world. But Protestant evangelicals are a fast-growing segment of the country. They make up roughly a third of Brazil today. And they’re expected to become the majority in less than a generation. Politically, Jair Bolsonaro is their candidate. The current president has promoted policy priorities favored by evangelicals, and he’s hoping to benefit from their support again as he runs for reelection later this year.
