In Brazil’s Amazon forest, the last known member of an isolated tribe has been found dead, according to Brazilian officials. The uncontacted member, known as “Man of the Hole,” distrusted outsiders and ignored all aid efforts from the government and human rights groups over the years. His death marks Brazil’s first recorded disappearance of “uncontacted” tribes, leaving many questions about protecting others while honoring their desire not to join the industrialized world. Fiona Watson, the research and advocacy director for Survival International, an organization that advocates for Indigenous and uncontacted peoples’ human rights, joins The World’s Carol Hills.
