Bolsonaro’s mining plan on Indigenous land linked to war in Ukraine

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is trying to push through a raft of bills that opponents have dubbed a “death combo” for the environment. One of them would allow mining on Indigenous territory. The war in Ukraine has threatened a crucial supply of fertilizer from Russia and Bolsonaro wants mining expanded to create a domestic source of fertilizer.
