This summer has seen global protests for racial justice: from Minneapolis to Brazil, London to Japan. Tokyo saw its largest-ever march for Black lives in June, with over 3,000 people marching through the streets, chanting “Black Lives Matter” in both English and Japanese. But a backlash also formed. Some people say racism is an American issue — not a Japanese one. Many Black people living in the country disagree. The World’s Bianca Hillier reports.
