The Biden administration has announced plans to develop large-scale wind projects along almost the entire US coastline. This comes after it approved the nation’s first major commercial offshore wind farm off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. European countries like Denmark, Germany and the United Kingdom are way ahead on developing offshore wind and are supplying a lot of the expertise needed to help the United States jump-start its own efforts. Marco Werman speaks with Alan Lowdon, a seasoned veteran of UK offshore wind projects who is director of strategic development at the US-based National Offshore Wind Institute at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts.
