Since the election in Belarus — which the incumbent Alexander Lukashenko claims he won in a landslide despite evidence of mass vote rigging — thousands of peaceful protesters and bystanders have been detained. One of the people detained and who is currently still in prison is Vitali Shkliarov, a Belarusian American who has spent time in the US working for various political campaigns.
