American citizen released from Belarusian prison

The World

Belarusian American political strategist, Vitali Shkliarov, has been released from Belarusian prison and has reportedly left the country. Shkliarov was imprisoned on trumped-up charges of allegedly organizing an illegal political rally against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Shkliarov’s release was due in large part to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s call with Alexander Lukashenko, where he demanded his “full release and immediate departure.” Host Marco Werman speaks with reporter Charles Maynes about the latest.
