A tiny owl was found in Africa — and now it’s endangered

An international team of scientists have described a type of owl, called the Príncipe scops owl on Príncipe Island off the western coast of central Africa. The owl had been seen by locals for the last century, but eluded scientists, and it’s now critically endangered. The World’s host Marco Werman speaks to PhD candidate Bárbara Freitas who found the owl with the help of local guides. Freitas is a scientist with the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales in Madrid.
