Ahmed Gallab is a Sudanese American and lead singer of the group Sinkane. Gallab wrote the tune “Ya Sudan” a year before the Sudanese military overthrew its longtime dictator Omar al-Bashir. But “Ya Sudan” is a topical song, one that celebrates Sudan’s diversity and Gallab’s own identity. He speaks to host Carol Hills.
