A DACA recipient behind the Supreme Court case

The World

Seven years ago, President Barack Obama gave some relief to more than 700,000 people who were brought to the US illegally as children. Those in good standing could receive a work permit and relief from deportation. The Trump administration ended the DACA program, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Federal courts blocked Trump from ending the program immediately. In a few weeks, the Supreme Court will hear a case that could greatly affect people often known as “Dreamers.” That includes Norma Ramírez. She is one of the people the Supreme Court will hear from — in defense of DACA. Reporter Deepa Fernandes has been spending time with her and has this profile.
