Venezuela-born Juliette Herrera is a beneficiary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA — the Obama-era program that offers protection from deportation to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US as children. Herrera spent nearly a decade getting a college degree. She was psyched to walk the stage at her graduation this week at Florida International University when the pandemic struck. Herrera describes how her family and friends found another way to celebrate her achievement.
