Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo wants to host Olympic swimming events in the Seine River for the 2024 games. But to do so, she’ll have to clear the river of its vast waste. Around 360 tons of plastic are found in the Seine every year. Raphael, who is 10 years old, has dedicated his free time to fishing waste out of the river using a magnetic rod. He’s already managed to pull out seven tons of waste, including electric bikes, scooters, scrap metal and cell phones. The social media-savvy kid also puts some of the most interesting treasures into a “museum.”
