The World

On Jan. 12, 2010, a massive 7.0 earthquake rocked Haiti. More than 300,000 people died, and hundreds of thousands more were injured and displaced. Host Carol Hills speaks with Velina Charlier, who was 29 years old at the time of the quake and in Port au Prince. Fueled by the many failed efforts to rebuild the country, she has since become an activist. Also, Jehane Sedky, who co-led a UN special adviser’s office on international assistance to Haiti, speaks to Hills about what happened to all the rebuilding efforts, and what went wrong.
