Marco Werman, host of PRI's The World, and World Reporter Matthew Bell, recently returned from a seven day trip to Tehran. They found that years of sanctions and authoritarianism in Iran seem to have emboldened people in some new ways.

Whether it's downloading music from the the Internet using virtual private networks, skipping Friday prayers, or starting new tech ventures, Werman and Bell found Tehran to be a cosmopolitan city with great food, and some contrasting feelings toward the U.S.

Here, they share what they learned from Iran—from the nation's changing politics to its evolving music scene.
