The World

Britain's new top diplomat is Boris Johnson. The Conservative politician was London's mayor. Then he campaigned hard for the UK to leave the European Union. Post-Brexit, some thought he would run for prime minister. But he shocked everyone by deciding not to run. Now, he's been named foreign secretary in Theresa May's new government. Plus, we speak with Ryan Kailath, a reporter for public radio station WWNO in New Orleans. He's Indian-American, and he was sent to Baton Rouge to cover the protests following the death last week of Alton Sterling. Kailath ended up getting arrested, and was booked as "black." And, actor Sam Waterston talks about playing New York Times reporter Sydney Schanberg in "The Killing Fields."
