Rucha Chitnis

Photojournalist-Writer

Rucha Chitnis is a San Francisco and India-based photojournalist and writer and founder of Changing the Narrative, a storytelling project of counter narratives of women and social movements. These stories highlight the power, agency and leadership of women, communities of color and indigenous peoples to strengthen human rights, reclaim their histories and narratives and weave a sustainable way forward in the face of ecological and climate crises and economic and social marginalization. These stories attempt to unlearn and debunk stereotypes embedded in a dominant, ethnocentric narrative that often victimizes and marginalizes the lives of many.
