Matthew Savoca

Matt Savoca holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from UC Davis. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University. His research interests include foraging ecology, sensory ecology, community ecology, and conservation biology. Originally from New York City, Matt enjoys traveling and photography in his spare time.

While snorkeling in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary near the town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Alex Weber and her friend Jack Johnston had repeatedly come across large numbers of golf balls on the ocean floor.
