A Brazilian masterpiece comes to the US on live tour

The World

Self-taught musician Arthur Verocai has never toured the US, and he arrives this week for four special dates in which he and a 30-piece orchestra will reprise live his 1973 self-titled recording, an album that was influential on not just a generation of artists from Brazil, but has also been discovered in later years by the hip-hop world as a sampling source of compelling and unique sounds. Host Marco Werman offers a taste.
