This follows a controversy over a tweet he made last week about the language used by Britain's Home Secretary to announce the UK’s new migration policy. Linekar’s removal from the airwaves over the weekend had been met with widespread condemnation by sports fans who argued that the BBC was buckling under hard-right political influence.
