Thousands in Nigeria join environmental lawsuit against oil company Shell

The World

More than 13,000 people from communities in Nigeria’s Niger Delta are joining a lawsuit in the United Kingdom against the oil industry giant Shell. The suit demands that Shell pay up for environmental pollution and help with the cleanup. Host Marco Werman speaks with Celestine AkpoBari Nkabari, a local activist in the Niger Delta with the People’s Advancement Center, a community-based environmental rights organization. He joins us from Bori-Ogoni in Rivers State, Nigeria.
