Canada’s western province British Columbia is starting a three-year pilot program to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of heroin, meth, ecstasy, or crack cocaine. The program is part of an effort to fight a drug overdose crisis which has affected thousands in the province. Some say the program doesn’t go far enough. The World’s Carol Hills speaks to British Columbia’s chief coroner Lisa Lapointe about how this program fits in with a wider effort to prevent overdose deaths.
