Poet Robert Burns inspires global suppers

Robert Burns, born on Jan. 25, 1759, was beloved for his poems and songs, and regarded as the national poet of Scotland. The affection for Burns is not limited to Scotland. The World’s Marco Werman tells how, on this night, at dinner tables in some 150 countries, groups of people settle into a traditional Scottish meal, including haggis, the sausage-like dish memorialized in Burns’ “Address to the Haggis.”
