In Germany, a small town long slated for demolition to make way for the expansion of a coal mine has become a potent symbol of the clash between climate goals and Europe's energy needs. Police in riot gear on Tuesday began removing protestors occupying the western German town of Lützerath, and the crowd is expected to swell this weekend with the appearance of Greta Thunberg.
