Voters in French territories resoundingly chose Le Pen over Macron in latest election

French President Emmanuel Macron had a clear victory in last week’s elections, beating far-right rival Marine Le Pen by 17 points. But, in many of the French territories in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, the tables were turned, and LePen captured a large majority of the vote. Rebecca Rosman reports why voters from these places chose a far-right candidate, who has been accused of racism.
