Turkish currency takes another plunge

The value of Turkey’s national currency reached a new low on Thursday after the country’s central bank cut its policy rate for the fourth time this year. The move is consistent with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s unorthodox approach of refusing to raise interest rates, which is what most economists suggest to prevent runaway inflation.
