US-Taliban talks called ‘candid and professional’

The White House sent a large delegation of senior officials to face-to-face talks with Taliban officials in Doha, Qatar. They discussed terrorism, human rights and safe passage out of Afghanistan for Americans and others. US officials say they are not prepared to recognize the Taliban government, but the talks do give the group some degree of legitimacy.
