Egyptian cartoonist arrested on anniversary of Tahrir Square uprising `

A video posted by the Egyptian cartoonist Ashraf Hamdi on the 10th anniversary of the uprising in Tahrir Square offered a tribute to the revolutionaries who battled Egyptian security forces in 2011. After Hamdi posted the video, he was arrested for allegedly misusing social media and spreading false news. The protests in Egypt that began this week 10 years ago brought down the regime of Hosni Mubarak. But human rights groups say the current atmosphere — under the rule of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi — is even worse.
