Secular candidates win big in Lebanon’s university elections

Secularist candidates in Lebanon’s university elections scored an overwhelming victory recently. The results are a significant departure from previous results where Lebanon’s sectarian parties have typically won outright. Now secular politicians hope to make political and economic change both at the university and national levels. The World’s Marco Werman spoke to psychology student and secular politician Yara Idriss about her victory and what this means for Lebanon.
