Harassment Captured On Screen

The Takeaway

Coming up on today’s show:

  • On Monday, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe abruptly quit his post. The move has raised questions about the impact of the President Trump’s influence on the DOJ and FBI. Zack Beauchamp is a senior reporter at Vox and host of the podcast Worldly. He joins the program to talk about the implications of McCabe’s ouster.
  • More than 300 million people visited the National Parks in 2016, but access to public lands is under threat.  From government sell off and transfer of federal lands, to deteriorating infrastructure and an administration that has already downsized two national monuments, park supporters are concerned.  Alastair Gee, public lands editor for The Guardian, and Carolyn Finney, a member of  the National Park System Advisory Board, weigh in.

  • Sometimes capital punishment is just the luck of the draw. This week’s Case in Point from The Marshall Project examines the case of Renard Marcel Daniel. Andrew Cohen, senior editor at The Marshall Project, explains what drew him to the case.
  • Actor David Schwimmer and director and screenwriter Sigal Avin are behind six short films that depict harassment in the workplace, each based on real events. It’s part of an Ad Council campaign called #ThatsHarassment. Three of these films will be distributed nationally as PSAs by the Ad Council. We talk with Schwimmer and Avin about why they took on this project, and what they hope it achieves.
