From Ukraine, all the way to Syria, Mali and Sudan, one of the ways that Russia exports its power across continents is through something called the Wagner Group. The Wagner Group is a mercenary organization with strong ties with Russia’s military. Just last week, the European Union sanctioned the organization saying that it’s “responsible for serious human rights abuses … includ[ing] torture … executions and killings.” Host Marco Werman speaks with Michael Weiss, the news director with the online publication New Lines magazine, where he recently wrote an investigative report about the Wagner Group.
