Weedie Braimah brings the djembe to the front of the band

Weedie Braimah is a master of the djembe, the West African drum that first originated in present-day Mali. In his new album, “The Hands of Time,” Braimah shows the djembe’s range and power and tells the story of his own African and African American upbringing. Afi Scruggs has the story.
